This is the first episode in the endeavors of a regular guy getting his private pilot certificate. I’m starting flight training next week, and I’ve decided to chronicle this thing for the enjoyment of anyone who cares…and me. Take a listen to the introduction, Episode Zero.

Hey Bill,
Saw your post on Pilots of America and came on over to check things out. Let me say that after listening to cast #0 I thought to myself “Yes, someone in the same position I’m in: finally ready to make it happen and become a pilot.” I’m 33, married with one little one, and at last at a point in life where I can stop dreaming and start doing. I hope to start later this summer once I’ve decided on a school.
I’ll be listening intently and wish you well on your journey. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with me and everyone else listening.

Thanks, Ray! I’m happy to hear that you’re taking the plunge. Don’t miss episode 2, then, on how to choose a flight school…sounds like your about there now! Be sure to drop me a line and let us know what you chose and why…and I’ll let everyone know in the next episode. The more input, the better.
Good luck as you prepare to begin. It’s a great time!
Bill~
Well, just saw your post in AOPA July, 08, Page 16. I got inspired to visit your site. I listened to Pod#0. It was a great intro. I just turned 40yo, 2 boys and fulltime employee and I also dream to become a private pilot for pleasure. But first even before getting in the Cessna, I will have to be approved by TSA. Being in the US for 19 years and a French nationality, I must obey by the Homeland Security rules and fill up some forms, once approved I will begin my ground school. When I was 18 years old, a friend of mine took me up there, way up there in his Cessna. That was it for me, I was hook as well! It took me 22 years later but I am finally ready for it. On my 40th birthday, I ordered the Sporty’s Private Pilot course to get started and I love it. I wish you the best. IndiaFoxtrotLimaYankee.
Eric,
Congrats on finally making the commitment. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. The DHS stuff should be no problem…
Please keep me informed of your progress. I’m always interested to follow fellow enthusiasts!
Good luck…and keep at it.
Bill~
Bill,
I stumbled upon your site googling around for a snippet of information and I have to say I am impressed. the commentary is excellent and it will serve as a great aid for other students as well as great record of your achievements. I am a student pilot just finishing up my training at SDL, a couple of cross countries and a check ride and I will be there. As a side note, it was interesting hearing my instructor in my normal training aircraft as the other traffic in Podcast 20. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Brian…congrats on getting close to your ticket. Please let me know when you finish. Also…thanks for the kind words; I’m glad you’re enjoying the podcast.
Keep up the good work…you’ll be done in no time…and then the learning really begins!
Bill~

Thanks, Mathew…I’m glad you’re enjoying the podcast!
Hey Bill. I am 32 years old, married and have our first child coming in a couple short weeks. I have had the desire to fly since I could remember, hanging model planes from my ceiling when I was a kid. I never was confident enough to start that path but now I am just forcing myself to take the step. I am still thrilled about starting the process. I was doing some searching for podcasts for beginner pilots getting their private license and found your podcast. I just listened to your episode #0 and I am thrilled to tune into the rest. Thank you for recording this so that, many years after you finished yours, someone like myself could get a glimpse of the process 🙂
